We're a honeymoon registry service based in the UK.

When we saw Amy's suggestion that couples should "avoid extensive itemization" we were agog! On the contrary — the more personalized, detailed and romantic you can make your registry, the more your guests will engage with the idea, and feel that they're giving you a real, concrete gift instead of an anonymous pot of cash.

We wrote a blog post ourselves on that very topic:

http://blog.buy-our-honeymoon.com/2011/06/22/unusual-and-wonderful-registry-gifts/

Her other points are spot-on, though!

Thanks so much for a great post on this topic.Andrew @ Buy Our Honeymoonhttp://www.buy-our-honeymoon.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4981170618532404911.post-49574570863793877592011-07-20T18:58:08.612-04:002011-07-20T18:58:08.612-04:00Great post!Great post!Krissy167 Make Believe'Nhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16900042074496576925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4981170618532404911.post-6669971086407415152011-07-20T18:47:21.613-04:002011-07-20T18:47:21.613-04:00We actually did this when we got married in 2008. ...We actually did this when we got married in 2008. It worked out very well but I did find most people just gave us cash (which we used for the honeymoon). I think by registering for your honeymoon you send a message that you have all the house things you need and would prefer a monetary contribution... like asking for money without directly asking for money.Ashleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03543480612775718706noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4981170618532404911.post-7433561194616885382011-07-20T14:15:11.595-04:002011-07-20T14:15:11.595-04:00This is a really good idea.
