It's Like White On Rice

When you think of a wedding, one of the first colors that comes to mind is white - the color of the bride's dress.  This tradition of a white dress became popular in the 1800's during the Victorian era because Queen Victoria wore a white lace dress for her wedding to Prince Albert.

In the 1800's a white dress showed the family's wealth and was also the color of a dress to be worn when presented at court.  In time the white wedding dress also came to mean innocence and purity.  Today this tradition has expanded to include ivory, cream or eggshell.

All in all, a white dress equals a wedding in most people's eyes.  So, what about bringing white into all of the other elements of your wedding?  I think all white weddings can be absolutely stunning.  But I also definitely think you need a little color mixed in with the white like a pale pink or lavender.  Something subtle enough that it won't take away from the elegant white but that will break it up a bit.

I love the way the subtle pink plays off of the white details.
