[Styled Shoot] - Water for Elephants

Water for Elephants is a wonderful story of how a young boy loses his family and then finds himself on an adventure with a traveling circus.  There he meets a beautiful girl who captures his heart and in the end they save each other with their amazing bond. 

Randi Marie Photography and Blue Door Creative teamed up to create a wedding that would be a lovely replication of this amazing historic novel. I absolutely love this book and movie so when I saw how they pulled together all the perfect vintage details to recreate the beautiful love story, I had to share it with you guys!



Details from the photographer: Author Sara Gruen offers visual aids throughout the pages of her book to help Kate & I gather idea’s to incorporate in to this styled shoot. With warm tones and a rustic feel, what started as a mere idea turned out to be an amazing wedding brought about from the past; "Water For Elephants meets A Rustic Barn." Brides need ideas outside the blank ballroom to make their wedding one of a kind. What better of a way to do it then create a wedding perfect for the vintage rustic bride? Executing this idea was nothing but ease as we had the best vendors on board that anyone could ask for. We wanted to build this styled shoot to help give brides outside-the-box ideas for a fabulous wedding. Our amazing bakers, Juliana with 3.14 Pies and Megan with Eat Sweets Pastry, teamed up to make delicious treats and the yummiest goods. The fabulous Print Your Party did our custom paper goods. We gave her an idea and she turned it in to a dream come true. Sew In Love created the perfect dress for our bride. The florist took our idea and turned it in to a dream. Stemming from the very vintage past, we wanted to incorporate a hairpiece that would really compliment the style of our shoot along with our bride’s personality. Kira, a fun and outgoing lady, was more then happy to be our model. For the name of love, that girl would be up for anything! Daniel, a handsome fella with the sweetest personality, made the perfect groom with his gentle personality and striking good looks.

[Real Wedding] - Jade & Luke's DIY Vintage Wedding

I love when we receive gorgeous DIY weddings to share with you all.  But even more so, I love when the wedding has a super sweet story to go along with it.  Today's {Real Wedding} is not only gorgeous but has a great story too!



Their story from the bride: Luke and I were high school sweethearts but the first time we meet we were so young! We meet at a rodeo when I was barely 16 and Luke was 15. But we officially became a couple my senior year of high school on the day of the Homecoming dance. We dated for 2 1/2 years before we got engaged.


The Engagement Story from the bride: We got engaged in Lava Hot Springs ID.  His WHOLE family was there: aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, grandparents, sisters, brother .... just everyone. We were actually floating down the river and I came around the bend and some of his family was on the bank holding posters. I actually didn't even read them (I was focusing on not flipping my tube over) until his cousin yelled my name and yelled "read the posters!!!"  They said "Jade, will you marry me!!"  Boy oh boy was I in shock! My husband and some of his cousins were waiting in a slow part of the river for me and the first thing I did was just kissed him.  All of his family was hopping and hollering; it was so cute!  I finally screamed yes so everyone could hear.  When we got out of the river he got on one knee and he did the official proposal there :) What a happy day!

About the wedding from the bride: I knew I wanted the wedding to have a lot of me and Luke’s personality in the whole day. We both grew up in the country so that’s why we decided to have it outside and had the reception away from the city. I also knew I didn’t want just one main color so that’s why we did so many; also they are my favorite colors.  I loved the vintage lace and old furniture and loved the country look with horse shoes and wild flowers. At first I thought there was no way to pull it all together but if there is a will there is a way!





Almost the whole wedding was DIY projects. It was a lot of work but it made it so much more meaningful when I had guests come up to me and my family and said this is the cutest reception we have been to in a long time.












My Aunt did a fabulous job with all the centerpieces and flowers around the reception.


My Grandma helped out with a lot of the sweet breads we had at the bread bar.

Most the decorations my mother and I found at thrift stores and antique stores.



My Mother-in-Law had so many good ideas for the refreshment table and how to re-do old pictures frames.










I just have a great and extremely talented family who all pulled everything together for my amazing wedding day!
