[Styled Shoot] - Vintage Backyard Wedding

Today I want to take a little break from the cold weather and share with you some beautiful Spring / Summer wedding inspiration.  This styled shoot by Lisa Dolan is simply gorgeous.  It's a backyard spring wedding complete with vintage details and great ideas!

A chandelier in a tree?  Lovely.

I just love how these look blowing in the wind.  Such a pretty & simple touch!

It's Party Time

Spring is nature's way of saying, "Let's party!"
~Robin Williams

And isn't that true.  Spring has sprung and wedding season is officially here!  With Spring and wedding season comes lots of wedding planning, venue booking, cake tasting, and on and on.

While the actual wedding ceremony is the most important part of the day (it's the reason you have the whole event after all!), the reception is key.  This is the point in the day/night where friends and family can come together to celebrate the new bride and groom.  You have the first dance, the speeches, the food, the drinks and the celebrating into all hours of the night.

As a wedding planner one of my favorite pieces of a wedding to plan is the reception.  It is the place you get to be most creative and have some fun.

With the idea of receptions and planning in mind I started looking for some unique wedding reception set-ups.  I love how different some of these are and how the couples certainly made their reception their own.

When I first saw this picture on Erin Ever After, I immediately fell in love.
The colors, the style, the view ~ it has it all!

This couple went for a clean look with all white and pops of blue.
I think the white adds a nice, calming feel to the reception.

How pretty is this set up in a barn?  It's so simple and rustic.

This reception is so intimate with a picnic table set for six.
Such a fun idea for a low budget, small wedding!

This couple went with a wedding reception under the 'stars'.
It looks like a HUGE event!

What are some unique receptions you've been to?

Spring Flowers

April showers bring May flowers.

The buzz about Spring is definitely in the air!  Before we know it warm weather will be here and flowers will be popping up everywhere.

When it comes to Spring flowers and weddings, do you think flowery bridesmaids dresses are a do or don't?

I kind of like the vintagey look of muted, mismatched floral dresses.  If done right, it can be pretty cute!

A Little Something ~ #1

I'm constantly stumbling upon great cakes, centerpieces, dresses, shoes, etc. that make for some great wedding inspiration.  So in order to share these with you all, I decided to start {A Little Something} weekly feature.  Every Monday morning (yes I know that its the afternoon now, but starting next week it will be the morning.) I will post one of these great wedding finds on the blog for you all to enjoy!

Today's {A Little Something} is a rustic centerpiece made of birch tree stumps and gorgeous flowers in Spring colors.

Who else is ready for Spring & outdoor weddings/events?

Sail Away With Me Honey

Spring is definitely in the air!  The weather is getting warmer and the sun is shining pretty much every day (with the exception of today, boo!).  I don’t know about y’all, but I am definitely ready for the seasons to change.  Enough with the cold, dreary weather!

And with all this talk of Spring lately, I've been daydreaming of going to the lake and being out on the water.  This naturally led to a nautical themed wedding board.  How cute are those mini sailboat mint holders?

Spring Into Color

This past week I was on vacation in Colorado skiing with my family (which was absolutely amazing!).  During the long flight out West, I read the new Elle Magazine featuring Katy Perry.  From cover to cover it was easy to see that bright, bold colors are the trend for Spring.

Using this trend, here are some inspiration boards for Spring weddings.  Which color do you like best?

Pink

Yellow

Orange

Are you going to follow this bright Spring trend?

DIY ~ Glass Bottle Centerpieces

I stumbled across this picture this afternoon and immediately loved it:

Picture via Intimate Weddings

I love how simple these 'vases' are, yet they add a great pop of color for a Spring or Summer wedding (and would be perfect for my dream lake wedding).  And even better, you can make them yourself!

To get started, you need old glass bottles, milk bottles, or mason jars.  If you don't have any, ask your friends & family; I guarantee they'll start piling up!  You can also purchase these bottle fairly cheaply per the links above.  Also, if the bottles/jars do not match, don't stress!  Various sizes & shapes are best.

Next, go to your local market and find roses in your wedding colors.  Or (if you're like me) and prefer something other than roses, just pick your favorite flower(s) in the appropriate colors for your wedding.

To add a little something extra, place a linen/burlap table runner (á la Style Me Pretty) under the bottles and voilá you have the perfect, simple centerpiece for your wedding.
