Fashion Week Recap

This past week all of New York's (and probably the rest of the world's) most fashionable people were out in NYC for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.  All of the stars and more came out in swarms to see the newest styles and trends for Spring 2012.

I have to say the trends that I saw (from my home since sadly I couldn't attend) got me excited for the Spring.   Yes I know it's not even Fall  yet, but hey we have to have something to look forward to after all the cold weather right??

Two of my favorites were Oscar de la Renta and Marchesa (Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier and more were also all amazing!).  Here is a recap of their two looks and the trends to come in Spring 2012.

Oscar de la Renta
In the words of Women's Wear Daily, "The wildly frizzed hair that flew back as the models walked suggested Seventies; the three billowing ballgowns under lace tops that opened the show, Eighties (the good part). But 60-some exits later, a fair conclusion was that Oscar de la Renta’s finest hour might be right now. Never a champion of restraint, for spring de la Renta offered a joy fest that was as beautiful and exuberant as it was diverse. Various parts will appeal not only to women of different ages, but different types — proper ladies, debutantes, sex pots, even girls with a Bohemian streak."

How amazing is the movement in this dress?

Hello party dress!  I must have this.

The cut, the fit, the color... perfect.

Marchesa
From Women's Wear Daily, "An underwater fantasy painted by Ilya Repin and the drawings of Ernst Haeckel inspired Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig’s collection for Marchesa. And it was dazzling... The play of sheer with embroidery and overlays of tulle floating on second-skin sheaths was masterful... These clothes are far from subtle, but they were never intended for the faint of heart."
I love the simplicity of the hairstyles and the barely-there makeup.  It's perfect for the whole look!

Check out the back of this dress in the mirror - amazing!

Fringe seemed to play a big role across lots of designers' looks.

What do you think of these Spring 2012 looks?  Who were your favorite designers at NYFW?
